These photos are samples of the varied and chaotic life on the streets, and in the buildings of Kathmandu. We were constantly amazed at the organised chaos going on a round us. The people, the cars, the animals. Yet there was still a serenity in the air which was unusual, and would not exist in a western country. For example, although the streets were crowded and cars and people were intermingled and practically travelling side by side, there was not anger or frustration - just the constant sound of horns blaring to indicate that a car was there.

In Kathmandu there were very few beggars, compared to India, although the treet kids would often come to you holding out their hands for a few rupees.

Overall, we found the people of Kathmandu very friendly and peaceful and made some very good frends there. Have a look at our Friends home for more pictures.
